Madeleine Dietrich’s mixed media abstractions serve as the artist’s visual diary: an aid in processing her experiences of sexual assault and gender queries as a queer woman. Using her creative practice to expand on a personal narrative, Dietrich incorporates elements of the landscape around her. The photography-based portraits, layered with drawing and painting, explore the unique expression of each individual’s persona and sexuality. These works explore intimacy and the relationship between artist and subject.
This pop-up exhibition will showcase works from Madeleine’s month-long residency at Listastofan, with paintings and portraits influenced by both the landscape, and individuals in Reykjavík.
